Biology Notes, Dihybrid

Genotypic Ratio of Heterozygous parents are always 9:3:3:1

How to use Dihybrid.

1, Get the parent’s genotypes, as an example we will use a capital T for Tall and a capital G for green. Lower case letters will mean the opposite. (t = short, g= not green). We will use the following parents for this example. Mom = TTGg, Dad = ttGG. In this scenario, the dad is short and green while the mom is tall and Green. This is because there is at least one capital letter for the corresponding trait.

2, Its time to sort all the possible combinations of alleles. To do this crate 4 letters and combinations, For example, tG, tg, Tg, TG, The previous are all the possible allele combinations a child could inherit.

3, Next set up a table of 16 squares. Place your combinations on the left and up of the table. Each square should have at least 4 letters rather than the 2 on punnet squares. These letters will cross to make 4 letters on each square.
