Types of succession

  • Primary Succession: Formation of a brand new ecosystem In a an area that has not yet been used by using Pioneer Species, Which are species that first inhabit an area and make it sutable for other organisms. Examples of pioneer species are Liches and Mosses that break down rocks into eventually more sutable land.
  • Secondary Succession: The recovery of an already existing ecosystem, this is due to some disruptive even like a wild fire. Seconday Succession takes a shorter time to reach climax due to already established soil. Grass grows quickly and recovery occurs quickly.

PRIMARY SUCCESSION ROADMAP

Mosses and Lichen – Small Plats and flowers – Large plants such as trees – Animals.

  • Climax Community, A mature and stable community of plants and animals

  • An ecosystem that is table and has constant/predictable changes,
