- the Vietnam War: The USA became involved to prevent communism. They eventually fall to communism and Lao and Cambodia follow.
- Khmer Rouge: During the 1970s, pol pot was in charge of the communist party in Cambodia, which lead to a civil war in which they then took power. Caused a genocide of minority and opposition groups where 25% of the country’s population was killed.
- Myanmar: AKA Burma is a country in SEA that is ruled by Junta. In 2016 the gov falsely accused the Rohingya people of attacking military personnel and began ethnic cleansing which caused fleeing to Bangladesh
