Physical Geography
- Regions of South West Asia, Mostly Islam which includes north africa, middle east, and central asia. Combined they have an area twice that of contenental US. Middle East is land that borders the arabian sea, persian gulf and mediterranean sea. Central asia is largely land locked north of Iran. Southwest Asia also connects theree contenets of africa, asia, and europe. Asia and Africa are connected by Sinai Penninsula and europe and asia are sperated by bosporus and dardanelles; Due to high water their is also much trade.
- Region of Strategic Waterways, These are seas and waterways that are important to trade, examples are the persion gulf, snai penninsula, suez canal, and dardanelles/bosporus.
- Inland Seas- are seas that are landlocked and have salty water, examples are the Capian Sea, Dead sea that makes a partial border between israel and jordan. The Aral sea is one of the those seas but the majority has evaporated away and may disspear due to farming. You can float in the dead sea.
- Mountains in South West Asia, examples are Atlas Mountains.
- Dessert and Plains, The empty quarter. Most have no to little agricultural value
- Rivers in southwest asia, there are five major rivers that are the nile, tigris, euphrates, and amu and syr darya rivers. They are important as thats were the earliest human civilizations began. Tigiris and Euphrates is the first civilazation also known as mesopotania and nile is the ancient agypt. They are important sources of fresh water but are not used to trade as they are short and sometimes have wadis. Wadis are dry steambeds that sometimes floods quickly.
